2024 What a Year !
As the new year begins, we take a moment to reflect on 2024, a year filled with significant events.
It was primarily an election year, with the social elections in particular marking a significant milestone, where ACLVB-CGSLB made substantial progress. We would like to warmly thank everyone who placed their trust in us. In the years to come, we will continue to dedicate ourselves fully to the well-being and interests of our employees.
This year, well-being was at the heart of our efforts. Not only did our survey at the beginning of the year highlight the importance of this issue, but the WellBe check later in the year also reaffirmed our focus on this area is justified!
2024 was also a year of major changes, with everyone experiencing the impact of Business Evolutions. Unfortunately, we had to bid farewell to many colleagues who had to leave, leaving a noticeable gap within our teams.
At the same time, tensions remain regarding the telework policy, particularly the mandatory additional day every two weeks. This measure is often seen as unnecessary when not all team members are present, which complicates collaboration and increases frustrations.
The Performance Management system also took shape this year and is now running at full speed, albeit not without criticism. For many, it feels like a “battle of the fittest,” with pressure increasing steadily. Employees are working at the edge of their capacity, often with fear of what the future holds. The question “Who’s next?” hangs like a shadow over the workplace.
The past year was also marked by the introduction of the new HR system, WorkDay, which unfortunately came with its share of startup problems. While the digitalisation of HR services aims to enhance efficiency, it has also led to a sense of detachment from the personnel department.
Centralising contact in Poland has widened this gap, with employees often waiting a long time for answers or solutions. These challenges have made it clear that there is still work to be done to strike a balance between efficiency and personalised support.
This year, we also said goodbye to the Sint-Michielswarande, an iconic building steeped in history that had been a familiar place for many. This departure marked the end of an era but also the beginning of a new phase.
From now on, we will consolidate our efforts in one central building, where we will continue to build our future together. This change opens up new opportunities to collaborate more efficiently and achieve our shared goals.
The upcoming year promises to be challenging, with significant changes on the horizon. A review of the social consultation model and a reform of VOSSCO-ASCEL are major milestones, while the current social consultation collective agreement also comes to an end this year.
In addition, the supernote announced by Bart De Wever may introduce significant changes, particularly in fiscal matters, potentially impacting the benefits offered within our company. Altogether, 2025 looks set to be a year full of challenges and adjustments.
Nonetheless, we look to the future with confidence and wish everyone a fantastic 2025, with a focus on health and happiness above all.
Happy New Year!
